So who is Will Campbell? He was a standout tackle for LSU that went 9-4 under Brian Kelly this past fall. The Tigers defeated Baylor in the Texas Bowl with Campbell blocking for quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Campbell also won SEC Lineman of the Year this past fall and was first team All-American. As usual, the naysayers are saying that his arms are too small to play tackle in the NFL and this is a wasted pick. If he was SEC Lineman of the Year against future NFL players, why can't he translate that success to the NFL?
SEC Lineman of The YearSo how will he fit into the upcoming 2025 Patriots? New head coach Mike Vrabel expects him to start right away at left tackle. Campbell himself was quoted to saying he'd "die to protect Drake Maye" so there's no reason to question Vrabel. The 2024 Patriots were plagued by bad line play and giving Drake a chance to throw will pay dividends this upcoming season, especially with Stefon Diggs coming to town. If Drake has time to get him, Kayshon Boutte and Pop Douglas the ball, that's a difference maker.
"Finally, I might have time to throw" - MayeThere's still the rest of the draft to go, but right now the Patriots filled a hole big time, Caeden Wallace and Layden Robinson weren't the answer last year, but Campbell might be this year. Time will tell.
